Hey, I have a little problem with my Toshiba Satellite Pro 420CDT. (And yes, this is my first thread, so I apologize if I posted it in the wrong place.) I bought a Netgear MA401 Wireless card, and when I try to install it onto my laptop, the 'Found New Hardware' message pops up, but instead of asking for or installing the proper drivers, it just automatically installs the Microsoft TCP/IP 2.0 Package. Therefore, when I restart my computer when prompted, neither Device Manager or the Netgear programs like Winupdate detect it.
Even when I already have the network card's CD in the CD drive, the same thing always happens. I've tried everything from reinstalling the PCMCIA drivers to reinstalling the card itself, to no avail. Also, I probably need to note that I've even checked the PCMCIA slot, and none of the pins are missing or bent, and they don't appear to be damaged. And, yes, the 'Link' light does turn on when the card is installed into the PCMCIA slot.
