If it was not able to boot from the DVD then it would start into Windows 7 and probably bring up the Autoplay menu of the DVD in the drive. Is this what happens? I do get press any key to boot from DVD. Get progress bar and that finishes. Then blue background picture comes up and it stops there. The disk is the original D/R sends you when you purchase student upgrade download which I was able to install windows 7 with.

I know the language is sensitive, so I will say that by UPGRADE I mean it in lamest terms, not opposed to custom install, etc. I understand that this process involves a clean install, and I am not trying to do anything other than that.
